Having done our homework for the England Woodland Creation Offer grant application we felt that there was a strong chance that most of the funds we applied for would come through. However we couldn’t take the risk of ordering trees in advance because the funding can’t be granted retrospectively.
Understandably none of the local nurseries we spoke to could take the risk of setting the trees aside for us on themselves.
Thanks to some (virtual) digging by Lawrence, we came across an amazing charity called Protect Earth who had spare capacity for the coming planting season. They agreed to support us not only by reserving the trees but also by being on hand to guide and supervise the planting itself.
Back in business, now we just needed for the EWCO grant to come through!
